Floored by the Seasons

The “pool villa” suite is the coolest room I’ve stayed in at a resort (thus far.) If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up – if in Chiang Mai.

Our day in Chiang Mai: Day 2

Today we checked out of the Four Seasons to experience a little of downtown Chiang Mai. The FS is a good 40 mins outside town, and our trips in were so great we wanted to check it out a bit more. It’s definitely an expat town, and very easy and friendly. We toured some wats, … Continue reading

Wat spotting

After a relaxing day at the Four Seasons we headed out to visit two historic Wat sites as described in the previous Our day in Chiang Mai.

Our day in Chiang Mai: Day 1

After the gym and a buffet breakfast, we hired a driver (thanks, Udom!) for a few hours to take us to some sites around the outskirts of Chiang Mai. First, we drove up a huge hill to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep – it is one of Northern Thailand’s most sacred temples. Legend has it … Continue reading

Travel day : Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai

We waited at the station for the 9:01pm that turned into the 9:45pm…no matter. We shared our sleeper car with a lovely young Brit named Kate (19 and traveling before university) and a Czech stranger on the top bunk that stumbled in at 10pm, climbed up to his bunk and passed out without closing the … Continue reading

Our day in Ayutthaya

This morning we got up, had a great little breakfast at our hotel (Promthong Mansion – highly recommended) and headed out on our bikes for a tour. First stop: Ayutthaya train station to see about exchanging our seats on the night train to be beds on the night train. The language barrier is a bit … Continue reading

Promthong Mansion

We found a great guest house in Ayutthaya that provided a cool oasis from the 100 degree day biking around the ancient wats.
