Yosemite to San Francisco

We drove through Yosemite from east to west across the Tioga Pass. It’s only open in the summer, and you can tell why. It was a stunning drive with spectacular views. Also a bit of a nail biter – my nails, at least. Yosemite Valley was pretty crowded, but El Capitain is a must see. People sleep up on the face after climbing all day. I could never do it! We didn’t see any bears, but there are a remarkable number of bear-shaped tree stumps in the park.

We wanted to camp one last time before San Fran, so stopped just outside the park in Groveland at a campsite. We did a load of laundry and set up an early camp. Burgers again for dinner – maybe better than the first ones.

We woke up and hit the road for SF at 9am and were downtown by 12:30pm. It was a scenic drive through orchards and fields, then our first highway in days. We didn’t miss highway driving, that’s for sure.

C (finally) scratched his Mission burrito itch with a Chorizo Super Burrito – he said “I want to always be eating this”, which I think means we’ll be going back. Now we’re having a beer in SF Bay at Fisherman’s Wharf. The weather is perfect.
