Chicken Coop Demolition

There was a coop in our back yard when we moved in. The previous owners had chickens in it, but we felt that the structure was old, decrepit, and too big for our purposes. We want something easy to clean, with easy access to the laying boxes to get the eggs each morning. So we’re rebuilding it. But first…out with the old! We’ll get chicks next week, keep them inside in a brooder for about 6 weeks, and then they’ll be big enough to put them in the new coop. We’ll build the new coop and run on the same foot print, because it’s a good location for us. Hopefully we can let them free range some nice days. The previous owner said she had a chicken stolen by a coyote in the middle of the day while she was watching! We have a lot of eagles and hawks nearby, so we’ll protect from all sides as best we can.
