Birmingham to Lexington…and beyond!

We had a great drive from Birmingham to Lexington. We stopped in Chattanooga to see the Chattanooga Choo Choo – a train museum and hotel they built in the old station. You can even book a room in a rail car! For lunch we stopped at a Golden Corral. We will definitely be back! We were the youngest by 50 years, so our late lunch was actually dinner time, but it was a blast. And hello – cotton candy.

We got to Lexington around 7pm – warmly greeted by our dear friends Ramsey, Soula, Sophia and Julian – and had a great Southern dinner. We had a fun time catching up over Kentucky bourbon and set up our bourbon trail drive for Wednesday. We slept like babies – listening to the rain on the skylights was so soothing. Thank you Pryor family for having us!

After a gorgeous drive through Kentucky horse farms, we did a tour and tasting at Woodford Reserve and a tasting at Buffalo Trace. It was informative, delicious and purchased immediately.

And then, for the first time this trip, I got to drive! Christian says I was “super fast and we made great time. Lucky we didn’t get pulled over.” I think someone is just jealous of my ability to obey speed limits and other road signs with caution.

Now we’re in Batesville, IN with the fantastic Ted and Shannon! Last night Ted made us steaks, Shannon made us drinks, and we all told stories. Really fun night!

We’re here another night before heading to Brooklyn, MI to see Pete’s SAE race. But for now we’re off to see more of Indiana!
